OBJECTIVES
Research suggests that quality afterschool programs improve students’ academic performance, homework completion, regular school-day attendance and participation in class, and reduces behavioral disruptions. Our program is backed by the latest research in education, and it is guided by the following objectives:
- Safety and Structure – offer a safe environment with an organized daily routine.
- Academic Growth – deliver academic support and enrichment opportunities in many subject areas to enhance regular school-day achievement.
- Empower – include resiliency-building practices to promote social and emotional health.
- Family Engagement – enrich families in the areas of nutrition, financial health, emotional wellness, education, and more.
- Rigorous Assessment and Evaluation – track student growth in academics to guide future direction.
- Ongoing Professional Development – provide ongoing evidence-based training opportunities for staff.
TRANSPORTATION AND STUDENT PICK-UP
Bus Riders: Transportation is provided for scholars who live within the Springfield City Limits.
Car Riders: Parents who drop off (AM) and pick up (PM) their scholars line up in the designated car rider area, in front of SMS near the gym. A parent/guardian or authorized party must sign the scholar out. Any parent/guardian or authorized party who wishes to pick up a scholar early, please contact the Site Director. One of our staff will escort the scholar to dismissal area to be signed out.
On Fridays, our scholars dismiss from the Robertson County YMCA near the back patio. If we dismiss from SMS you will be notified with dismissal updates
