We did a STEM activity on Friday called Building Bridges. The students were given popsicle sticks, tape, Dixie cups, pipe cleaners, index cards, rubber bands, and paper, and they had to build a bridge that could withstand the most weight. The winning team was able to hold a 90-pound student! Source

Studies show that the greater the back-and-forth conversation and number of words spoken to very young children, the quicker their brains develop. We did an activity called “Two-Faced.” I asked the students how they felt before they came into Afterschool that day and they were to draw that face on one side of their paper plate. Then, after a snack that had chocolate with it, I asked them to draw a face on the other side of how they currently feel. Source
